– The U.S. State Department says that TransCanada must provide more information on how the proposed XL pipeline will affect the environment.
Keystone XL is a proposed 1700-mile oil pipeline from the U.S.-Canadian border through Oklahoma and East Texas, to refineries on the U.S. Gulf Coast.
The State Department will continue to solicit public comment on the subject in order to provide interested parties and public the maximum opportunity to offer their thoughts.
A group of local residents have come out against the proposed pipeline, holding numerous meetings expressing concern over the line's potential negative impact. Those residents are comprised from predominantly Hopkins, Delta, Lamar and Wood counties, of which the proposed pipeline would pass through.
