Paris – Paris ISD instructor Jennifer Ray has been selected as the Region 8 Elementary Teacher of the Year.
Ray, who earned a Bachelor of Science degree at Paris Junior College in 1994 and Texas A&M University-Commerce in 1997, will now compete against 17 other regional instructors for Texas Elementary Teacher of the Year.
She has taught a combination of subjects at Justicc Elementary School and currently teaches 5th grade math at Crockett Intermediate School. Ray also serves as a STAAR Update and English I-II trainer for Region 8 ESC.
Semifinalist judging for the award beings next week.
Since 1989, Paris ISD has had 20 regional teachers of the year, five state finalists and one Texas Teacher of the Year.
