Paris – The American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) is desperately seeking volunteers to aide in tax preparation service in Paris.
Volunteer Tax Assistance Counselors are needed at the site one or two days a week through April to avoid closure. Bill Crowhurst, a volunteer for the past six years, said they are in danger of closing if they don't find volunteers. A one-week training course in January is required, and travel expenses to Paris will be reimbursed.
AARP is the nation's largest volunteer-run tax assistance. Last year, the volunteers helped users get refunds totaling $1.2 billion and earned income tax credits totaling $233 million for low- and middle-income taxpayers, with special attention to ages 60 and older.
Crowhurst said they have offices as well as in Sulphur Springs and Greenville. For more information contact 903-395-4789 or visit AARP.org.
