Cable TV outage affects thousands

Customers taking to Twitter to seek help, express outrage

At 6:46pm, TimeWarner Cable's twitter-based customer service team indicated that an area-wide outage was underway.

Within minutes, the Dallas area call center was overwhelmed and customers were unable to report outages or seek information. Even the 'online chat' customer service option showed queues of 20 or more sessions ahead of those logging on around 8pm.

The outage didn't appear to affect TWC's RoadRunner home internet service, and began to reinstate basic cable options at around 7:40pm.

As of this report, Dallas-area local channels are still unavailable. Customer service (@twcablehelp) indicates that a service outage investigation is still underway.
