The Texas Department of Transportation has indicated that the traffic handled by two Commerce intersections isn't quite enough to warrant automated traffic lights. The following was issued in a press release from TxDOT Friday afternoon:

Traffic signals located at the intersections of Monroe/Live Oak and Park Street/Main Street will remain on red flashing until removal. Traffic signal studies conducted at the locations did not meet warrants for the signals to remain. The signals are on all red flashing for 90 days while 4-way stop signs are installed. Once the stop signs are in place and the 90 days has expired the signals will be removed. The city of Commerce has been made aware of the changes in the two locations.
