Last month, Dr. Jones discussed with our audience the fact that while the Texas legislature had failed to pass bills that would allow state universities to construct new academic buildings, there was a chance that the first special session would finalize the deal. It did not.
The second special session of the legislature began this week, and Governor Rick Perry has yet to add tuition revenue bonds (TRBs) back to the agenda. Dr. Jones talks about the effect this yet-to-pass bill would have on higher education in Texas. That and a brief discussion of the gift Congressman Ralph Hall made to A&M-Commerce are part of the second segment of this month's episode.
In the first segment, guest Ryan Ivey, A&M-Commerce Athletic Director, shares notes from behind the scenes of an NCAA Division II softball startup. Ivey also shares exciting information about the newly-designed playing surface being installed at Memorial Stadium.
