In January, the Wall Street Journal published two separate pieces that took aim at "bureaucratic bloat," the questionable value of a college degree, and other presumed ills of higher education. Today, Dr. Dan Jones of Texas A&M University-Commerce offers a counterargument, one that frowns on social determinism and some specific elitist views.

The Wall Street Journal articles referenced in today's broadcast include this opinion by Richard Vedder and Christopher Denhart, and this article by Glenn Harlan Reynolds.

Dr. Dan Jones is the president and CEO of Texas A&M University-Commerce, the second largest and fastest growing institution in the Texas A&M University System. Monthly, he sits down with KETR's Jerrod Knight to discuss issues important to the office of the institution's president, including campus developments, community partnerships, the state of higher education, and his own personal experience.

The President's Perspective is a monthly half-hour chat with the president and CEO of Texas A&M University-Commerce. The program is produced at KETR's studios in historic Binnion Hall and distributed by 88.9 KETR.
