Dale Watson's honky tonk flame still burning strong

Texas icon Dale Watson believes in making music in the tradition of his idols, the way George Jones, Merle Haggard, and Johnny Cash used to do before the "country music" landscape changed. Dale prefers to call his sound "Ameripolitan," a genre which encompasses some of his favorite styles.

During his tour in support of the latest record "Call Me Insane," Dale Watson checked in with Notably Texan to talk about his past, the hardships that have made him stronger, stories behind some of his songs, an explanation of the "Ameripolitan" hybrid genre, and his upcoming projects.

Dale Watson is performing Saturday, July 25 in Ft. Worth at Longhorn Saloon.

Notably Texan is heard weekdays from Noon-3pm on KETR.
