PICKTON - A Texas A&M University-Commerce student killed in an accident last week was laid to rest over the weekend.

21-year old Max McKinnon was a 2008 graduate of Sulphur Springs High School. State Troopers last week reported that McKinnon struck a horse while driving along Highway 11 near Gafford’s Chapel in Hopkins County. He later died after being transported to Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler. Cloudy and rainy conditions that morning prevented helicopters from quickly transporting McKinnon and another victim for treatment.

McKinnon was honored at the hospital for being an organ donor.
