Search for missing Delta County boy enters fourth day

COOPER - The search for a missing Cooper teenager, who hasn’t been seen since Friday afternoon, was still ongoing as of last night.

16-year old Stephen Martin resides with his grandmother, Shirley Martin, along CR 4230. Currently, the case is being treated as a possible runaway.  His family reported he left for a walk, and they never heard from him.

“It is just not like him,” said his mother, Minnie, who resides in Louisiana. “We are completely baffled and very concerned especially since he is on several medications.”

As of Monday evening, there had not been an Amber Alert issued. The Delta County Sheriff’s officers explained it is not an abducted child situation, but Sheriff Gerald Teague is continuing to investigate the case. They have sent the information to the Texas Crime Information Center (TCIC) and the National Crime Information Center (NCIC).

Martin is described as 5-foot 7 inches, with brown hair and a cross tattoo on his arm.

He was not carrying a cell phone. Reports state Delta County Deputy Trent Orr searched the vicinity of the residence, all three sections of Cooper Lake State Park and the Cooper square.
