Punishment hearing formally held in murder case

GREENVILLE - A Quinlan woman, convicted of capital murder, turns down multiple plea bargain offers before receiving life in prison without parole.

The formal punishment hearing was conducted Tuesday, days after a jury found Tracie Danielle Alphin guilty for her involvement in the 2008 murder of Jason Harrington.

In a letter to the court written by the defendant the day her trial started, Alphin said she was turning down an offer to plead guilty to a lesser charge, which would have allowed a chance for parole after 30 years.

That deal was taken by her alleged co-actor, David Early Hickman, who testified against Alphin during her trial.
