Another $1.5 million could go toward S.H. 24 expansion

PARIS - Another local entity will consider funding a portion of the right-of-way acquisition and utility relocation costs concerning the widening of State Highway 24.

The costs, to be shared between the City of Paris and Paris Economic Development Corporation, are not to exceed $1.5 million, to be funded over a period of years. The City Council will consider the resolution when it meets Monday night. Delta County Commissioners recently approved a similar resolution.

In October, the Texas Department of Transportation announced approval of the widening of a ten mile section of the roadway from two to four lanes, which runs from the Hunt-Delta County line to just south of Cooper.
