Ortiz could receive lethal injection if convicted

GREENVILLE - Hunt County District Attorney Noble D. Walker says his office will seek the death penalty for a capitol murder suspect.

Should Gabriella Ortiz be convicted for last summer’s death of two-year-old Brandon Herrera, she’ll receive death by lethal injection. It was not immediately clear that the second suspect, Arturo Vega, would get the death penalty should he be convicted.

Ortiz appeared before a judge during an interim hearing Tuesday.

A trial date for both defendants has not been set.
