GREENVILLE - The Greenville City Council approved an ordinance Tuesday to sell raw water to the Sunrise Municipal Utility District which will go toward filling a new lake.
Director of Public Works Massoud Ebrahim says the City was recently approached by the Huffines Group which asked the City to supply between 2.5 to 3 million gallons of raw untreated water for the purpose of filling and maintaining a reservoir for recreational and irrigation use.
The District proposes to develop 19 hundred acres located a few miles west of Lake Tawakoni. The development plans call for more than 650 residential lots, plus acres of commercial development, a golf course, and a 350 acre lake.
