Commissioners address security cameras, tax office

COOPER - The possible merger of their tax appraisal office and new security cameras continue to be issues in Delta County.

In a letter addressed to the Court, Hunt County Chief Appraiser Brent South stated it was clear Delta County does not want to consolidate and he was disappointed the matter ended without resolve. Delta County Judge Herb Brookshire said they are exploring the options of combining the Tax Appraisal and Tax Assessor-Collector offices.

Security cameras were again addressed in a rather lengthy discussion.  Delta County Treasurer Bonnie Hobbs and Tax Assessor-Collector Dawn Stewart voiced their opinions noting they have since removed the tape from the cameras. Judge Brookshire responded saying he never doubted the integrity of any employee of Delta County and it was for their security, for all.
