Update: Power to nearly all homes restored, but storms again a threat tonight

Power outage update 5-30-12.JPG

Power had been returned to nearly all but about a dozen Northeast Texas homes as of Wednesday afternoon, hours after overnight storms left more than hundreds of homes in the dark.

The storms were associated with the tail end of a strong line of activity that predominantly impacted areas to the west, with lightning and wind gusts as high as 50 mph. Severe thunderstorm warnings were issued by the National Weather Service office in Fort Worth for some parts of North Texas in the early morning hours, but there were no reports of major damages or injuries.

According to Oncor, a majority of the outages Wednesday afternoon were in Lamar County, mainly in the City of Paris. For real time updates, click here.

The National Weather Service says there's a chance of severe activity Wednesday evening, with the possibility of storms producing damaging winds, large hail and isolated tornadoes near the Red River.
