KAUFMAN COUNTY - State Troopers say a teenage boy was killed in a Sunday evening accident in Kaufman County that seriously injured 10 others.

A total of four vehicles were involved in the wreck.

State troopers say it started when a Cadillac Escalade was trying to pass a pickup on state Highway 243 west of Terrell. While passing the pickup, the Escalade hit an oncoming pickup head-on. As the driver of the pickup being passed began stopping, that car was then rear-ended by a Chevrolet Tahoe.

The Tahoe rolled, killing 18-year-old Juan Gomez, as reported by WFAA-TV.

Jimmy Fivecoat, a passerby who stopped to help, spoke to the station.

"It happened so fast the debris was just blowing everywhere. It was weird because I thought people got thrown out of the cars because instantly there were people jumping out, lying on the ground everywhere."

The driver of the Tahoe left the scene and was wanted for questioning by authorities.
