Bio-pharmaceutical company to boost Paris workforce

PARIS - An agreement reached this week in Lamar County is expected to bring in more than 300 new jobs over the next five years. 

The Paris Economic Development Corporation is referring to the bio-pharmaceutical manufacturing company as Project Jewel, who was granted a 24-month, $100,000 loan.

The Paris News reports the new facility, expected to be constructed within 6-12 months, will provide $36.3 million in capital investment for the city and county. The company anticipates hiring 100 employees within three years from production level to skilled lab technicians. According to the newspaper, the agreement may include technical training for students at Paris Junior College and Texas A&M University-Commerce

A formal announcement of details on Project Jewel is expected within the next two months.
