Formal Dedication Set for Middle School

SULPHUR SPRINGS - Ahead of the fall semester, Sulphur Springs ISD administrators have planned a ribbon cutting for their new Middle School, completed this summer as part of a $48.4 million bond.

The initiative was approved by voters in 2009, and also included construction of a Multipurpose Building and renovation to the former middle school to house third and fourth grade students.

The public is invited to attend the event, scheduled for Thursday, August 23 at 6:30 p.m. Guided tours of the new facility will be offered. The ceremonies are hosted by the Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce.

Located along the Highway 11 Loop south of the city, the new, 160,000 square foot Middle School sits on 54 acres. The two-story facility features a standard science lab and fine arts classrooms. Three student computer labs and a state of the art media center will take advantage of the latest technology.

Crews broke ground on the facility in the summer of 2010.
