Ivey: Strict NCAA academic standards could come to D2

The NCAA is holding Division I athletic programs to a higher academic standard through something called the Academic Progress Rate (APR).  The University of Nevada-Las Vegas and University of Idaho football teams have been barred from post-season play, and in the 2012-13 season, the University of Connecticut men's basketball team (the 2013-14 national champions) was forced to sit out the postseason.  Texas A&M University-Commerce Athletic Director Ryan Ivey says the rule does not yet apply to NCAA Division II, but A&M-Commerce is implementing many aspects of it, and he expects Division II to eventually come under the rule.
