Cooper Independent School District Superintendent Denicia Hohenberger had her contract renewed at the recent Board of Trustees meeting.

In turn she announced the School Board Appreciation month and the various ways the school and its students have shown their gratitude for their work.

“You have always stay focused on the needs of the District, and we appreciate it,” said CISD Superintendent Denicia Hohenberger, acknowledging the home cooked lasagna meal provided for the Trustees as well as the dinner card and Prom tickets, super hero notepad and leather portfolio. They were especially pleased with the special student produced, directed and starred video expressing their thanks to the School Board.

“We appreciate this [the gifts]. It is our pleasure and honor to serve this great responsibility,” said Board President Thomas Darden.

Superintendent Hohenberger reported enrollment is holding steady and is good. She informed the Board of the recent Emergency Management safety planning held at the campus with other entities going through three different scenarios and debriefing.

“We are very grateful for this,” said Superintendent Hohenberger, on the safety planning.

The Board viewed several more videos with photos from high school, junior high and elementary progress.

Athletic Director Ronnie Green reminded the Bulldog relays (track meet) as well as baseball and softball tournaments will be held March 5 and 6 and host District track meet on April 16. He is seeking volunteers to help.

The Board reviewed the mid-year budget. Director of School Operations Doug Wicks updated the Board on the bus refurbishments. These refurbishments are 30 percent of a new bus and will also provide air conditioning. The item passed 6-0.

A discussion over the specifications of gutter replacements was held agreeing this would likely be a summer project. Wicks presented photos and blueprints.

The Board will meet again on Monday, Feb. 16 at 6 p.m. at the administration building.
