Fortunately there were no life-threatening injuries as a small foreign SUV veered from State Highway 24 South near the construction site, jumping John’s Creek and landing in a ditch Wednesday afternoon at approximately 3:45 p.m.

Emergency vehicles and volunteer fire fighters responded along with the Delta County Sheriff’s officers to the scene. Occupants of the vehicle walked away from the accident, and traffic was redirected to one lane just outside of Klondike.

Following further investigation, authorities have preliminarily determined the driver of this SUV was actually having a diabetic attack. This medical condition caused him to strike a small pickup near Jernigan Creek and nearly colliding with a Hunt County Regional Hospital Buss before continuing north and landing just beyond John’s Creek.

The driver of the small pickup had some extremely minor cuts from glass shattering but required no medical attention.

Drivers are urged to proceed with caution as the scene was temporarily under investigation awaiting DPS and a tow truck.
