Commerce airport improvement to begin soon

Commerce Mayor Dr. John Ballotti says an improvement project at Commerce Municipal Airport is expected to begin around July 1.  The project includes repairs to the runway, and the installation of runway lights that can be controlled by incoming pilots.  The city has a grant for the project from the Texas Department of Transportation.  The mayor says the city hopes to get another grant in the near future to extend the runway so that jets can land at the airport, located on Highway 50 north of Commerce.
