Everyone is cordially invited to get their tickets now to the formal event of the season – Delta County Chamber of Commerce’s 66th Annual Banquet. Entertaining for the evening of Saturday, Jan. 16 will be Monty Tipps and band along with local honors and accolades to boot.

“We have decided to make this a fun black and white affair,” said incoming Chamber President Kathy Houchins. “I think this is a nice opportunity to show our respect for the honorees and chamber members by providing a classy night and a formal dining meal.”

For those not familiar with Monty Tipps and band, he is a detective sergeant at the Sulphur Springs Police Department who is from Miller Grove and graduated there in 1986 and is currently residing in Sulphur Springs. He and his band perform mainly traditional country music like George Jones and Johnny Cash. They have recently performed for the Hopkins County 120 year anniversary, Dodge Days downtown Sulphur Springs, Reilly Springs Jamboree, Foster's Place in Pickton, The Arlington Music Hall in Arlington, Texas and for many other local events.

The event will commence at 6:30 p.m. at the Cooper High School auditorium with a catered meal of chicken fried chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes and drink by Big Smith’s BBQ for the reasonable price of $15 per ticket. Guests will be served their dinner by the Cooper High School National Honor Society students. The meal will be topped off by deliciously sweet treats graciously donated by Cindy Davis of Grandma’s Kitchen of Cooper, Kathy Erwin of Cooper and IdziBitsy Bakery of Sulphur Springs.

“This is an excellent price of admission for this banquet and to hear Monty Tipps perform – he always draws a great crowd,” said current Chamber President Cheryl Cash, excited about the entertainment. “We appreciate all our local area bakers for stepping up and helping make this year’s dessert lineup even more charming for guests.”

Awards to be presented include Citizen of the Year, Business of the Year, First Responder of the Year and Agriculturalist of the Year. There will be an opportunity to sign up to become an individual supporter of the Chamber or as a small or large business for a special chance to win a door prize.

Singing the National Anthem will be local talent Micalyn Rowe, Cooper High School Graduate.

Tickets or tables may be purchased and reserved from any Delta County Chamber Board of Director members, at the Chamber office from Office Manager Gracie Young on West Side of the Square in Cooper or by calling 903.395.4314 or by stopping by the Cooper Review on the East Side of the Square or calling 903.395.2175.
