NTRA Close to Federal Funding

FAA funding could expand operations at Perrin Field.

The U.S. Department of Transportation has started looking into finalizing funding that would put North Texas Regional Airport-Perrin Field in Grayson County under FAA control.

US Congressman John Ratcliffe announced Wednesday night in Sherman that the airport is close to receiving more than $550,000 in annual federal funding that would help fund control tower operations through the Federal Aviation Administration.

The Sherman Herald Democrat reported today that transferring funding responsibility to the FAA, would allow the tower to be manned and operated more hours each day.

The tower currently handles about 80 thousand operations a year. Federal funds could see that expanded to 100 thousand operations annually.
