New Elevation Record Set At Cooper Lake
The sun has finally decided to peak out of the clouds for the Delta County area. This is the most sunshine seen in over two weeks. Despite the widespread flooding and damage, it caused, the good news is a new elevation record has been set.
According to Bo Potts with the Corp of Engineers, Cooper Lake will peak at 449.12 feet with 11,750 cubic feet per second going over the uncontrolled spillway.
This increase caused the gates to the fishing dock and lower fishing area to be closed due to water over the roads. At this time, they do not have an estimated time for reopening.
Potts urges visitors to please be courteous and remove litter.
“We work very hard to make sure this is a nice facility to enjoy, and we simply do not have the manpower to pick up after hundreds of people per day.”
