Cooper Declares Clean Up Week

City crews recently finished the work to sewer lines on Waco Street near Delta Supermarket.

Approval was recently given by the Cooper City Council setting City Clean Up Week for Saturday, April 7, 2018 through just before the Delta County Fair to be on that Saturday, April 14, 2018.

Approval was given to sound the alarm when the fire department is called out to a fire and approval was given to check for inoperable fire hydrants. The Council also approved the spending of $780 to purchase barricades and cones to be used to make the public aware of work crews on city streets doing repairs.

Nicki Beeler was re-appointed to a two year term on the Sulphur River Regional Mobility Authority Board.

David Phillips, Willie “Bear” Wilkins and Donna Thomason are the council positions that are up for election. Approval was given to order a city election for May 5, 2018. Two 12-hour early voting days were approved -  April 23, 2018 and the other for May 1, 2018. Phillips, Wilkins and Thomason along with Amanda L’Esperance have signed up as candidates.

The next regular City Council Meeting will be at 5 p.m. on April 9, 2018 at City Hall.
