One person died early Friday morning in a two-vehicle, head-on collision on State Highway 11 in northeastern Hunt County.
Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. Kyle Bradford said the crash happened around 5 a.m. near the intersection of of S.H. 11 and FM 1563, just north of Commerce.
A tractor trailer was headed east while a black Chevrolet pickup was westbound and for an unknown reason, the pickup veered into the eastbound lane and stuck the tractor trailer, he said.
The driver of the pickup died at the scene. The victim’s identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin, officials said.
The tractor trailer ended up in a pasture. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured, Bradford said, but is being treated for medical issues unrelated to the crash.
The area of S.H. 11 remained closed through late Friday morning.
