Charlie Alderman, Commerce ISD superintendent, says while school is closed because of the coronavirus threat, food packets are being distributed in a drive-thru fashion from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. for breakfast and from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for lunch at the A.C. Williams Elementary School, the First Baptist Church, the Norris Community Center, and the Linda Muller Community Center. Teachers are organizing educational packets in a similar fashion, and online classes are being prepared for middle school and high school students. The home lessons should be ready by Friday or Monday, the superintendent says.
