Two people died as a result of a motor vehicle accident in northeastern Hunt County early Saturday morning.

A vehicle accident in northeastern Hunt County early Saturday morning killed two people, and a Wolfe City man is facing intoxication manslaughter charges in connection with the incident.

State troopers responded to a call of an accident on State Highway 50, near the intersection with County Road 4805, between Commerce and Ladonia, at about 4:45 a.m. Saturday, a Texas Department of Public Safety release said.

A 2007 tractor-trailer was traveling southbound on SH 50, and encountered a 2003 Dodge Ram parked facing north in the southbound lane, officials said. The tractor-trailer swerved to avoid the pickup, left the road, and rolled several times, they said. The tractor-trailer’s driver and one passenger were pronounced dead on-scene, officials said. The driver of the pickup was not injured, they said.

The Greenville Herald Banner reported that Hunter Keith Dawson, 18, of Wolfe City has been arrested in connection with the incident and charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter and one count of unlawfully carrying a weapon.
