July 13 Evening Newscast

  • In Rockwall County, the City of McLendon-Chisholm issued a boil water notice today. The notice is the result of low water pressure created by low water supply. The City of McLendon-Chisholm has also placed a ban on outdoor watering. The prohibition was announced Tuesday and remains in effect as of this report. The City of McLendon-Chisholm gets its water from Rockwall-based RCH Water Supply Corporation. The utility’s website cited excessive outdoor sprinkler system usage earlier this week as the cause of the low supply and low pressure.
  • In Commerce, voluntary water conservation guidelines remain in place, as they have been since Monday, when city crews identified a leak in a major pipeline. The leak was repaired late Tuesday, but the City of Commerce announced this morning on its Facebook page that levels in the city’s water delivery system remain low. Commerce residents are asked to not water outdoors, and to limit indoor water use to essential purposes only.
  • In sports, Texas A&M University-Commerce has announced its revised 2022 football schedule. The Lions will be competing in the NCAA Division 1 Football Championship Series and the Southland Conference for the first time. A&M-Commerce formerly competed in the NCAA Division II Lone Star Conference. The Lions open the season at home against Lincoln University of Oakland, California on Sept. 1. This year’s homecoming game is set for Oct. 22, when A&M-Commerce will host conference opponent Houston Baptist University. Complete schedule available at lionathletics.com.
