Drug bust in Quinlan nets 7 arrests

  • In Quinlan yesterday, Hunt County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Quinlan police arrested seven adults and placed two children in state custody. Officers executed a search warrant in the 9700 block of Blue Jay Parkway. The seven adults were all placed in the Hunt County Jail and charged with drug-related offenses.
  • Elsewhere in southern Hunt County yesterday, firefighters contained a blaze that burned more than 51 acres north of Quinlan. The wildfire happened along County Road 2276, just west of State Highway 34 and east of State Highway 36. The fire was reported contained late Thursday afternoon. Elsewhere around the region, firefighters contained a 10-acre blaze in eastern Dallas county, near Seagoville, yesterday. And in Wood County, crews contained a 7-acre fire along east State Highway 154.
  • Fire danger remains high across most of Northeast Texas today. Outdoor burning remains prohibited in all Northeast Texas counties. The Greenville Herald Banner reports from this week’s Hunt County commissioners meeting that officials discussed how some people have continued outdoor burning, despite prohibitions. Fire danger is forecast to remain at elevated levels this weekend, despite chances for rain across the region this evening and Saturday.
  • Today’s forecast, sunny this morning, with clouds later and a 30 percent chance for isolated showers or thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. High temperatures in the upper 90s. Tonight, mostly cloudy with lows in the mid 70s and a 20 percent chance for rain. Saturday, a mix of clouds and sun with a 30 percent chance for showers or isolated storms in the afternoon. Afternoon highs in the upper 90s tomorrow. Sunday, sunny with no rain in the forecast, and highs expected in the upper 90s.
