Sunny, dry and breezy conditions are forecast to continue through the week

  • Cool temperatures have arrived in Northeast Texas, but dry ground conditions remain, and the risk of wildfire will be elevated across much of Northeast Texas this week. The Texas A&M Forest Service rates fire danger as high to very high today, with eastern Hunt county along with Delta and Hopkins counties among those areas under very high risk. A cool front on Sunday brought a little rain to the region, with some areas receiving one to two inches, but other parts of the region received only trace amounts of rain during Sunday’s weather. The Greenville Herald Banner reports about one-hundredth of an inch was recorded at Majors Field on Sunday. Dry and breezy conditions are expected to continue this week, with no chances for rain in the extended forecast until Sunday.
  • Today’s forecast, sunny and cool, with afternoon highs in the low 60s. Wind from the north 5 to 15 MPH, gusting to 25. Parts of Northeast Texas could get their first freeze of the season tonight. A freeze warning is in effect for most of the region. Lows in the upper 20s tonight under clear skies.
  • Checking KETR’s regional government calendar, the Commerce City Council is scheduled to hold its regular meeting tonight at 6 p.m. In Rains County, the Emory city council is meeting at 7 p.m. this evening.
