- A Texas House of Representatives committee has recommended that State Rep. Bryan Slaton be expelled from the House. The House General Investigating Committee found that Slaton engaged in sexual conduct with one of his staff. Complaints say Slaton had sex with an intern, a woman under 21, and gave her alcohol. The Republican from Royse City represents House District 2, which includes Hunt, Hopkins and Van Zandt counties. A report by the House General Investigating Committee was published Saturday. The Texas Tribune reports the document says Slaton did not dispute allegations that he had sex with the 19-year-old woman and provided alcohol to her, nor did he express regret or remorse for his conduct. The document also said Slaton’s lawyer argued the complaints should be dismissed because the behavior occurred in Slaton’s Austin apartment, and not at the workplace.
