Commerce ISD Bond On Nov. Ballots; Masks Encouraged But Not Required As Schools Begin Semester

Commerce ISD Superintendent Charlie Alderman says the first day of the new school year is Thursday (Aug. 12).  Masks in the classroom will be encouraged, but not required, for teachers and students. 

Also, the school board has voted to hold a $68 million dollar bond election on Tuesday, Nov. 2, for the construction of a new Middle School, in addtion to several other projects, including a multi-purpose center that would provide sheltered practice space for football and band.  The multi-purpose center will be a separate bond proposal. A facilty advisory board of nearly 50 community members studied the bond issue over the summer.
