Precinct 2 Commissioner Gary Anderson was at the center of a Texas Rangers' investigation.

Lots of little things started to add up leading to an investigation by the Texas Rangers of Delta County Precinct 2 Commissioner Gary Anderson. He was indicted for Abuse of Official Capacity which is a Class A Misdemeanor.

According to Delta County Judge Jason Murray the warrants included misuse of funds and equipment like putting tractor tires from County tractor onto his own personal tractor that mounted up in his case. He said Commissioner Anderson turned himself in on warrants and was bonded out the same day.

He has not turned in his letter of resignation to the County and was in Commissioners Court last Monday. Judge Murray reviewed the Precinct 2 budget.

Anderson’s trial will take place in District Court to which they are still waiting to find out when it will take place, best estimate was possibly in August. Judge Murray and Delta County Sheriff Ricky Smith have both recused themselves from the investigation, not getting involved due to it being a fellow elected official.
