Commerce City Council Approves Zoning Change For Housing Development; No Bids Received for Pump Station Repair

KETR

Commerce Mayor Wyman Williams says the City Council this week approved the second reading of a zoning change that will allow the construction of a 63-home housing development on Bishop Street in northeast Commerce. Countryside Homes of Royse City will build the moderately priced homes. Also, the mayor says the city did not received bids on a project to renovate the city's pump station at Lake Tawakoni, putting a $500,000 grant from the Texas Department of Agriculture at risk if the project cannot be awarded before the end of the year. He says the city is asking for an extension of the grant.
