A native of Northeast Texas, and a recording artist with a wide range of styles in his lengthy career, John David Kent is making a strong return to music on his first album in ten years. Patina highlights his thoughtful songwriting and powerful vocal skills, and gives the Nashville based artist a chance to reflect on his memories of Texas. Kent lived in Celeste, Texas for years where he formed his Blackland Records label at his own studio, and he's included multiple references to his old stomping grounds on his new songs.

Kent spoke with Matt Meinke during his album release tour to talk about what he's been up to during the long stretch between albums, recording Patina in Brooklyn, and how he's rolling with the changes in the music industry,

You can listen to some of the tunes discussed during the interview on this Spotify playlist (log in to your account to hear the full songs).
