Following the amicable split of the beloved Texas outfit he fronted for 23 years, Matt Hillyer hasn't missed a beat with his solo career firmly underway. The new State Fair Records release Glorieta highlights his creative songwriting, something he's been focusing on intently over recent years, and has given the Dallas native a chance to experiment with some styles outside of his norm.
During this interview, which originally aired March 24th on KETR, Hillyer shared some entertaining stories, discussed his rockabilly roots, memorable years with his former band mates, the transition to a solo artist, and the things he loves about public radio.
