PLANO – The North Texas Longhorns, with the help of former Texas A&M University-Commerce Lion's Quarterback Terry Mayo, defeated the North Texas Falcons 23-7 Saturday night for the Texas United Football League Championship.

Mayo began the year with the Allen Wranglers of the Indoor Football League, but was release on February 16. He rejoined the Longhorns, with whom he won the TUFL championship in 2010 when they were known as the Hunt County Longhorns.  Mayo splits time with Billy Bowmen at the quarterback position.

The Longhorns, based out of Plano, finish undefeated with a 14-0 record and have won the TUFL Championship three times in the past five years.  Making their first appearance in the TUFL Championship, the Falcons - based out of Wichita Falls - finish the season 12-2.

Established in 2003, the TUFL is a semi-pro football league with 20 teams across Texas, and one each in Louisiana and Arkansas competing in the 2012 season.
