The Lone Star Conference has released its preseason volleyball poll for the 2013 season, announced today by the league office.
A&M-Commerce has been picked to finish fifth in 2013, according to a vote from the LSC's head coaches, media representatives and sports information directors. The Lions picked up 113 total points, sitting in the same spot they finished the 2012 season.
Head coach Craig Case and his Lions finished 42 votes back of fourth-place Tarleton State and 12 slots higher than rival Texas A&M-Kingsville in sixth. West Texas A&M is the preseason pick to win the LSC, garnering 12 first-place and 211 total votes, edging out Angelo State's 10 first-place and 208 total votes. Texas Woman's received three first-place votes and 161 total points to place third.
A&M-Commerce is looking forward to another successful season in 2013, building off the momentum gained last season. The Lions won 20 matches, a nine-match improvement from 2011, while qualifying for the LSC tournament for the first time in three seasons. A&M-Commerce returns nearly its entire starting roster and eight letterwinners as the Lions look to make a run at the LSC crown.
The 2013 season gets underway on Friday, September 6th when A&M-Commerce travels to Arkadelphia, Ark. for the Henderson State Invitational. The Lions open up their home schedule on Tuesday, September 10, hosting Dallas Baptist at 7 p.m. at the Field House. A&M-Commerce has 11 home dates this season, so make your plans now to help cheer the Lions on to victory all season long.
