Bulldogs to face Henrietta in area round

The Cooper Bulldogs have their sights set on the Area Championship Title. Their challenger is the 7-4 Henrietta Bearcats. The black and gold team is located near Wichita Falls and has been coached by Byron West for the past eight years. The Bearcats are led by their 6' 2", 165 lbs senior quarterback Conner Fletcher.

This undefeated pack of Bulldogs is led by a triple threat of rushers, including senior Darmarcus Robinson, senior Jeremy Mims and junior Ira Franklin. Robinson carried only eight times last Friday but netted 125 yards, giving him 1,770 rushing yards on the season, leading the Bulldogs. Mims added to his statistics with 51 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries for a season total of 1,175 yards. Franklin surpassed the 600 mark on the season, gaining 92 yards and a score last week.

Chilly and rainy weather could be a factor in Friday's game, as the temperature is expected to drop below 40 degrees before kickoff, and there is also a 50 percent chance of rain at CH Collins Stadium in Denton.

The Bulldogs took the Bi-District Championship crown last week with a 43-7 victory over the Whitewright Tigers. Cooper held the one-sided lead the entire game, only allowing the Tigers to score in the final minute of play.

Henrietta upset Mildred last week at FW Brewer Stadium 25-21.

Not everything is great in Delta County though, as three Bulldogs were seriously injured in a rollover accident and are now recovering after hospitalization and another player's grandmother passed away this week. Head coach Ronnie Green will have to help keep the Bulldogs focused on the game and their sights on their next score.
