Dylan Monck fights for extra yardage on this run for the Leonard Tigers during their state semifinal playoff loss to Cisco on Saturday.

The Cisco Loboes got 177 yards from Colton Kent on just 10 carries, and that proved to be enough to end the championship dreams of the Leonard Tigers, who lost to the Loboes 55-6 on Saturday in the Class 2A Division II state football semi-finals.

Cisco (15-0) will face Refugio in the state finals at AT&T Stadium on Thursday, and Leonard finishes the season with an 11-4 record after reaching the semi-finals for the first time.

“We had a great season and I am very proud of these young men,” Shane Fletcher, head coach of the Leonard Tigers, said Saturday.

Mason Reed got the Loboes on the board first with a 45-yard touchdown run, capped by a Card Lewis extra point. The Loboes led 7-0 with 9:44 left in the first.

The Loboes struck again just two minutes later with a 49 yard scoring dash from Kent, stretching the lead to 14-0 with a little over 7 minutes left in the first.

The Tigers threatened right before the end of the first quarter, but Justin Bennett’s pass on fourth and goal to Solomon Titus dropped incomplete.

Cisco drove 97 yards in just two minutes to score again, this time on a 3-yard pass from Kent to Kyle Green. The score at the end of the first: 21-0 Cisco

Leonard’s next drive stalled on the Cisco 35, and Loboes’ star Kent returned the punt 70 yards for another touchdown. Kent and the Loboes went for two, and converted on a pass from Kent to Landen Lewis. Just 32 seconds into the second quarter the score leaped to 29 Cisco, 0 Leonard.

The Tigers again drove into Cisco territory, but the Loboes didn’t break, recovering a Tiger fumble on the Lobo 34.

Kent scored twice more in the second quarter on 24 & 77-yard touchdown runs by Kent. Cisco went into halftime leading 42-0.

Lewis scored on a 3-yard run for the Loboes just one minute into the second half, putting Cisco up 49-0.

Leonard finally got on the board thanks to an 80-yard touchdown run by Bennett after a fake handoff to Titus. The following two-point conversion attempt failed, so the score stayed at 49 Cisco, 6 Leonard.

Cisco ended the scoring with a 4-yard run by Tyler Callahan, and the Cisco Loboes defeated the Leonard Tigers 55-6.

Bennett led Leonard with nine carries for 109 yards, and Titus rushed 22 times for 94 yards.
