Texas A&M-Commerce won its first Lone Star Conference title in 24 years and earned the top seed in the upcoming conference playoffs.
The Lions will host Tarleton State in one of the championship bracket games on November 8. On the other side of the title bracket, Angelo State hosts Midwestern State. The Week 10 winners meet for the playoff title in Week 11, while the Week 10 losers will meet for third place.
The other half of the playoff field includes the remaining four teams with No. 8 Texas A&M-Kingsville at No. 5 Eastern New Mexico and No. 7 McMurry at No. 6 West Texas A&M in Week 10. The winners will play for fifth-place in Week 11, while the losers meet in the seventh-place game.
The winner of the playoffs earn an automatic berth in the NCAA Division II football championship. It is possible that other Lone Star Conference teams could earn an at-large spot in the 24-team field. At-large berths are awarded based on NCAA regional rankings.
