The NCAA has allowed Division II institutions to self-apply extension of eligibility waivers for student-athletes whose 2019-20 spring season was canceled, provided, among other things, that the student-athlete’s season was ultimately canceled for reasons related to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Details about the decision are included in this guidance that resulted from a Friday teleconference by the NCAA Division II Administrative Committee Related to Regulations and Policies Impacted by COVID-19.
The decision may impact Texas A&M University-Commerce student athletes whose spring 2020 competition opportunities were cut short due to widespread cancelations of gatherings as part of the February 2020 COVID-19 outbreak.
