Commerce – Commerce Police received a report of a decomposed body in a field over the weekend. The call came in around 5pm Saturday of a body in a field near the intersection of Church and Chestnut Streets in Commerce. The body was badly decomposed and was not identifiable, other than to be identified as female.
A team from Texas DPS Austin Crime Labs was called in to assist in the investigation. Officials expect a preliminary identification of the body today or tomorrow and say it may be linked to a recent missing persons report in Commerce.
