Extradition of drug plane pilot may take awhile

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – The alleged pilot of last week's drug plane that landed in Hunt County is fighting extradition from California.

Darin Fayne apparently does not want to come back to Texas to face charges of marijuana possession and assault against a public servant. He was arrested Wednesday.

Fayne is alleged to have abandoned a plane at the Caddo Mills airport last week after dropping bundles of marijuana in the Neylandville area.

Fayne was taken into custody near his home in California on Wednesday.

Although the Hunt County Sheriff's Office is in the process of obtaining a government warrant to bring Fayne back, it could take as long as 30 days.

Fayne was being held Thursday without bond in California's Fresno County Jail.
