Ruling made on L-3 tax exempt status

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – A ruling has been issued concerning whether property for Hunt County's largest employer is exempt from taxes.

A statement by Texas Attorney General Gregg Abbott was released this week, as to whether or not the property L-3 Communications leases from the City of Greenville is considered of public land.

However, Abbott said he could not make a specific ruling to many of the questions at the center of the controversy, deferring a final decision to Hunt County Chief Appraiser Brent South.

South said Tuesday he may issue a decision by the end of the week. He'll work to determine if the L-3 facility can be considering public.
