New rules for non-traditional businesses finalized

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – The Greenville City Council has decided where alternative personal services will be located.

Such services would include fortune tellers, tattoo parlors and piercing parlors. Many of the businesses will be restricted to operating in areas zoned for industrial uses. Opening the businesses would require a conditional use permit as well, plus 1,000 feet spaces between one alternative personal service and another.

Current businesses will be allowed to continue operating as a non-conforming use, although with any change of ownership the businesses will have to comply with the new regulations.
