Cooper ISD finalizes budget, talk facilities
By Cindy Roller
Cooper – Last week's meeting of the Cooper ISD Board addressed the upcoming budget year, facilities and included the approval of campus handbooks.
Superintendent Jason Marshall gave the final report on the Special Legislative Session stating overall the district will suffer a $170,000 net loss from State revenue. Board President Thomas Darden stated he was thankful the district was not hit as hard as many other districts.
In the last major look at the 2011-12 budget, Marshall reported salaries as current with no open positions at this time. The Board approved Darden's suggestion to round the above base pay to $2,400. Incentive pay will not be available since they are not being rated. The tax rate will remain the same as it is. The technology allotment has also been cut by the Session.
The floor tiling at the High School campus is on schedule to be complete by Aug. 5. The Board also approved an allowance up to $20,000 for the concrete repairs needed near the cafeteria and field house.
